This privacy policy explains how Hadron Group ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects personal information when you use the Hadron Group Customer Interface web app and its Android version (collectively, "the App"). It applies to all users worldwide and is written to comply with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Authentication data — a username and password you enter to sign in. The current public demo uses fixed demo credentials and does not store real account data.
- Data you enter into calculators — plant size, target ppm, pH, temperature, alkalinity and similar values. These stay on your device and are not transmitted to our servers.
- Support chat content — if you use the AI Assistant (powered by Chatbase), your messages are sent to Chatbase to generate a reply. Chatbase's own privacy policy governs that data.
- Technical information — your browser type, operating system version, and a small amount of usage information needed to serve the App and to diagnose errors. The App does not set advertising cookies or use cross-site trackers.
- Contact information — if you email us via the links in the App, we'll have your email address and the content of your message.
2. How we use your information
- To operate, maintain and improve the App.
- To respond to questions you send to our sales or support team.
- To provide the AI Assistant conversation through Chatbase.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms of use.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or automated decisions that produce legal effects.
3. Who we share data with
We do not sell personal information. We share data only with the following service providers, strictly to run the App:
- Chatbase — processes AI Assistant conversations.
- GitHub Pages (the App is hosted on GitHub's static-site infrastructure).
- Google Play Services — if you installed the App from the Play Store, Google may collect installation telemetry subject to Google's own policy.
4. International transfers
Our service providers may process data outside of South Africa. We rely on each provider's own safeguards (standard contractual clauses, supplementary measures, and their published data-protection policies) to keep your information protected during these transfers.
5. How long we keep data
- Calculator inputs — never leave your device.
- AI Assistant conversations — retained by Chatbase for the period stated in their policy, typically to improve the underlying model.
- Emails to our sales or support team — kept for as long as the enquiry is open, plus up to three years for recordkeeping.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete that information.
- Object to certain processing, or ask us to restrict it.
- Lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za) or your local data protection authority.

7. Security
The App is served only over HTTPS and uses a service worker to cache assets locally on your device. We follow industry-standard measures to protect information sent to our service providers, but no system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security of data in transit or at rest.
8. Children
The App is intended for professional users in the water-treatment industry and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves or as the law changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the latest revision. Material changes will be announced inside the App.
